Yesterday saw a significant reduction in the maximum certificate lifetime - down from 27 months (825 days) to just 13 months - less than half what it used to be.

 

Certificate lifespan has shrunk significantly in the last decade, where before 2011 certificates could last as long as 8-10 years. In 2011 the Certification Authority Browser Forum brought that limit down to 5 years. Then in 2015 it was reduced to 3 years, and down to 2 years n 2018.
