There’s still a lot of moving pieces that need falling into place - while 2023 is shaping up to be a fairly major movie release year - with new films from stalwart Directors - Antoine Fuqua, Ben Wheatley, Bong Joon-ho, Christopher McQuarrie, Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, Denis Villeneuve, Gareth Edwards, Greta Gerwig, James Gunn, James Wan, Kenneth Branagh, M. Night Shyamalan, Martin Scorsese, Neill Blomkamp, Ridley Scott, Sam Mendes, Steven Soderbergh, Steven Spielberg, ...
So 2021 was another oddly patchy film for year - with numerous postponements and rescheduling. This is the third year that Top Gun is featured, and second year for MI-7! They will for sure materialise this year - while 2022 has gotten off to a somewhat dodgy start because of Omicron - and I’m sensibly staying out of the Cinema until things calm down.
In 2020 I managed to get to the cinema 7 times, and last year I got to 10! Again a faltering attendance as I got benched into isolation the ...
So 2021 was another pretty disruptive year - with lots of delays and postponements - ’No Time to Die’ was put back 4 times I think! I made it back to the cinema for a ’Quiet Place II’ on June 5th - when Covid numbers were steadily improving - while I got punished almost immediately by being commanded to go into Quarantine by the NHS App. The same happened when I went to see my second film of the year ’Nobody’ - meaning thereafter I took a slight hiatus on cinema attendance.

2020 was obviously a highly disruptive year - both for the making of cinema, and showcasing the final product. Leading to Disney’s Mulan for instance being launched on the Disney+ platform versus an official cinema release.
It follows that a number of 2020 film premieres got delayed and postponed into 2021 - while I feel this year will largely be equally disruptive and more than a few productions will be needed to be saved by Netflix or Amazon - and will end up getting their ...
2020 has been a somewhat peculiar year for me like most, in that most of my regular routine has been entirely disrupted and thrown to the wayside. I used to go to the cinema at least once a week and would typically take in the 3 comic book stores in central London within the same circuit. The end of routine has meant that I have not picked up the usual quotient of graphic novels as I no longer have the ability to browse and peruse how I was accustomed to - so no best of Graphic Novels for 2020....
2019 was largely a Disney / Marvel kind of year - with lots of franchise live-action re-makes alongside plenty of the usual super-hero fare - nicely book-ended by the customary Christmas Star Wars release.
Funnily though none of the Disney films made it into my top 10 favourites for the year - which was an odd mish-mash of genres - as below. Besides Star Wars Skywalker, I also caught Cats and Little Women over the Christmas break - both of which I enjoyed enormously. I really don&rsquo...
