Catalogue Group Guide

Overview

Grouping Catalogue Items enables you to offer the same product with varying prices and payment options, such as direct debit or credit card payments.

Opt to display the Catalogue Group options on the Basket or Product detail screen.

During the purchasing journey, customers will see this group of catalogue items, with a radio button selector enabling them to choose their preferred option.

Create your Catalogue Items

Firstly, you need to create your Catalogue Items, each with its own prices and payment method. Please note: In order for you to group a Catalogue Item, you must select its payment method.

Control > Commerce > Catalogue Items > Catalogue Item

Note: You need to set up the payment method before you can select them. Here’s a full guide on how to set up a payment method: www.affino.com/affinohelp/commerce-guides/payment-gateways-overview

Create the Catalogue Group

Once you have created the Catalogue Items, you can now group them together. Here’s how to create a Catalogue Group:

Control > Commerce > Catalogue Groups

  • Name: Enter a name for this Catalogue Group. [required]
  • Description: Enter a description for this Catalogue Group.
  • Show Catalogue Group: Select to display the Catalogue Group options on the Basket or Product detail screen.
  • Catalogue Items: Select the Catalogue Items for this Group. You must have a Payment Method on the Catalogue Item for it to be shown. Sort the order in which they are displayed on the basket screen of the checkout.

Product Article settings

Each of your catalogue items will have an associated article of type Product.

Every product article has the 'Hide from Listing' option (within the Advanced panel).

This option is used to display the products (from your catalogue group) that you want listed and hide the ones you dont.

Example:

  • Product 1 (Hide from Listing disabled)
  • Product 2 (Hide from Listing enabled)
  • Product 3 (Hide from Listing enabled)

In the above scenario, Product 1 will be displayed and Products 2 and 3 will not.

Thus, when someone buys the one that isnt hidden (Product 1) they will see the other two (Product 2 & Product 3) as options in the basket.

Tip

On the Catalogue Item, you have a Catalogue Group Title, here you can add an alternative label if you don’t wish to display the Catalogue Item name. For example, rather than displaying Digital Edition GoCardless, you can display Pay by Direct Debit
