Despite years of advance warning, and an already prevailing paradigm shift towards heightened user safety and explicit consent - several web properties have done little to prepare themselves for the new era of locked-down browser security. The near ubiquitous Coffee Shop is facing big challenges of late, as much of the population has shifted to Home-Working and has largely migrated out of city centre offices near which most coffee shops are located. The old paradigm of popping out for a barista-prepared coffee 2 or 3 times a day is significantly changed for most office workers. Last week, TTG Media launched two impressive projects simultaneously - its new TTG+ Membership and TTG+ Premium Membership Programmes, and its Digitised Archive of Print Editions dating back to 1953 - which forms part of the higher level Premium Membership offering.

Yesterday saw a significant reduction in the maximum certificate lifetime - down from 27 months (825 days) to just 13 months - less than half what it used to be.

 

Certificate lifespan has shrunk significantly in the last decade, where before 2011 certificates could last as long as 8-10 years. In 2011 the Certification Authority Browser Forum brought that limit down to 5 years. Then in 2015 it was reduced to 3 years, and down to 2 years n 2018.
